Butcher arrested for selling unsafe beef

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command has arrested a butcher in Patigi Local Government Area of the state for allegedly selling contaminated beef.

Spokesman of the command, Mr Babawale Afolabi in a statement disclosed that operatives of Patigi Divisional Headquarters, acting on a tip-off arrested the butcher, Nawali Bala with the contaminated meats carefully packed in polythene bags.

On interrogation, Nawali Bala explained that the meats were given to him by Dantani Jayewu who at the time of this report is at large.

According to the statement, further checks by officials of the State Ministry of Environment confirmed that the beef was unsafe for human consumption.

The NSCDC command maintained that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed.
