Vigilantes kill 6 bandits in Sokoto

At least, 6 of the bandits that attacked Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State have been killed by the local vigilante.

Police Public Relations Officer Sokoto State Police Command, Assistant Superintendent (ASP)  Abubakar Sanusi who confirmed the report to Radio Nigeria said, the local vigilante chased the bandits to their hideout killing 6 of them in a gun duel while others escape with wounds.

The bandits who fled Zamfara State due to the ongoing military onslaught, attacked Tangaza, killing 2 persons and abducting scores from the village.

A resident of Tangaza, who pleaded anonymity, said 3 persons were also injured during the attack, while residents who sustained injuries were currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

He stated that the bandits launched the attack after evening prayers shooting and killing a shop owner on the spot and another, a young girl who eventually died at the hospital.

He lauded the timely intervention of security agencies alongside local vigilantes who rescued 1 of the abductees as the bandits escaped with 4 others, carting away foodstuff, drinks and other valuables.

The ongoing military operations in Zamfara State and the closure of major markets in some states of the North-West have reportedly had adverse effects on the operations of bandits.

The bandits are now regrouping around towns bordering Zamfara and Sokoto states for their nefarious activities against innocent people.
