The Kano Film Censorship Board prohibits films that depict kidnapping, substance abuse, or phone snatching.
Executive Secretary of the Board, Ismaila Naaba Afakallah, said this was to curtail vices that have become epidemic in the state.
Afakallah said the board intended to minimize the likelihood of young people learning criminal behaviours through film.
He maintained that some fans copy celebrities after watching them on television, saying not every young person possesses the tenacity to comprehend the events of fictional films.
The action is being taken to ensure they are not desensitised to criminality, he added.
