N22.7 million has been disbursed to family members of 15 deceased policeman who lost their lives in the line of duty in Nasarawa State.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali during the presentation of cheques to families of 15 deceased personnel in Lafia, said the policemen lost their lives in the course of discharging their duties in 2020.
Mr. Usman Alkali explained that the funds were generated from the IGP Group Life Assurance to boost the morale of Police officers for optimal performance in reclaiming every part of the country from criminal elements.
The IGP represented by Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police Mr. Adesina Soyemi stated that the initiative was aimed at supporting family members of deceased policemen who died in active service and called on the beneficiaries to see the gesture as rewards for hard work and sacrifice.
Mrs Nformi Emerencia who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries explained that her husband died in an auto crash while on duty said the gesture came her family as a huge relief and called on the Nigeria Police Force to sustain the gesture to mitigate the hardship family members of deceased police officers faced.
