The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on youths to leverage on the various opportunities that abound in the state to be self-reliant.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made the call in Agidingbi, Ikeja during sensitization programme organized by the Office of the First Lady titled: “Youths and Moral Values in an Evolving Society: Challenges and Recommendation”.
The event was attended by a large number of youths selected from both the formal and informal sector from all Local Government and Council Development Areas of the State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said Lagos State Employment Trust Fund had intervened in over 40,000 startups.
He assured the youths that as long as they are willing to work, the State Government would continue to provide an enabling environment for them to thrive.
In her opening remarks, the Wife of the Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, announced that the programme was aimed at sensitising the selected 143 youth groups on the need to inculcate moral values, despite societal challenges and to expose them to the various opportunities and government programmes.
State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, told the youths that many of the State’s cabinet members are youths and encouraged them to be productive.
The fun filled and interactive event saw some of the youths winning various gifts, including mobile phones and laptops, courtesy of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
