FG approves paternity leave for civil servants

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) presided over by Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, has approved paternity leave for Federal civil servants in the country.

Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, who told newsmen after FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said that henceforth, male Federal Civil Servants will be entitled to a 14-day paternity leave like their female counterparts.

Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, noted that this became necessary to build bond between the father and a newborn baby especially at the early stage of the child’s life.

Dr Yemi-Esan added that adopted babies of less than four months will also enjoy this privilege.
