Reps tasks DSS to deploy intelligence to combat insecurity

The House of Representatives has urged Security agencies to make maximum use of any intelligence alert at their disposal towards the protection of lives and property.

The chairman House Committee on national security and intelligence, Alh Sha’aban Sharadda made the call during an oversight visit by the committee to the headquarters of the Department of State Services DSS, in Abuja.

This according to him, would encourage collaboration and mutual support between all arms and tiers of government and the people to tackle insecurity effectively.

Alhaji Sharadda, assured that the committee would continue to assist the DSS in the discharge of their constitutional mandate, of providing security for Nigerians.

The lawmaker further charged the DSS to continue to explore the use of artificial intelligence and other advanced upscale technologies in intelligence gathering, surveillance, forensic investigations, and in general security management.

The committee chairman observed that the oversight visit would afford them the opportunity to appraise the implementation of the 2020 and 2021 Appropriation Act,

He added that the committee would be updated with the various efforts and programmes the service deploys in the management of the security and intelligence mandate of the Department.
