Nigeria confirms 138 new COVID-19 cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 138 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

This brings the total number of cases in the country since the pandemic began to 206,064.

The latest cases were recorded in six states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

The FCT had the highest infection rates with 51 new cases, followed by Anambra and Lagos with 28 and 24 positive samples, respectively.

Other states with new infections include Benue (18), Plateau (9), Kaduna (7), Jigawa (1).

According to the NCDC, 95 people were discharged on Saturday after recovering from the infection.

While a total of 193,893 patients have so far recovered from COVID-19 in Nigeria.

There were no additional fatalities on Saturday.

The coronavirus death toll in the country still stands at 2,723.
