Pres Buhari advocates peace in Ethiopia’s politics

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on parties in the political conflict in Ethiopia to tow the path of peace in the interest of the unity, progress and wellbeing of the country.

In his goodwill message at the inauguration ceremony of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for a second 5-year term in office, President Buhari pledged Nigeria’s continued support towards the unity and territorial integrity of Ethiopia.

The President’s message delivered before other African leaders prompted jubilation from the audience at Meskel Square, the venue of the inauguration.

He told the newly inaugurated Prime Minister that Nigeria, like many other countries, was counting on his leadership to unleash the great economic potential of Ethiopia by expanding investment opportunities, deepening relations, and building trust at home and abroad.

While wishing the Prime Minister a successful tenure in office, President Buhari said he looked forward to more fruitful and robust engagements between the two countries.

The Presidents of Uganda, South Sudan, Djibouti, Senegal, Kenya, Somalia, and the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo also attended the event.
