A 20-year-old, Adetunji John Adebayo from Oyo State has been sentenced to 6 months imprisonment over attempted cheating by impersonation.

Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin presided over by Justice Adenike Akinpelu gave the ruling for the offence contrary to Section 95 punishable under Section 324 of the Penal Code Law.

Adetunji pleaded guilty to the 1 count charge preferred against him by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Following his plea, counsel to the EFCC, R. Alao, urged the court to hold that “the prosecution has established a prima-facie case against the defendant considering his plea, extra-judicial statements and exhibits tendered”.
