Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo has called for the formation of the National Moringa Farmers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria to develop the product into a commercial commodity.
Otunba Adebayo who made the call in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the Moringa Development Association of Nigeria said the federal government would ensure value addition to Moringa to enhance its pricing and value.
“The formation and development of National Moringa Farmers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria will no doubt, open investment opportunities in the areas of production, processing and marketing aspect of the commodity as well as assist in achieving Goal number 12 of the SDG on responsible consumption and production, taking cognisance of many uses that moringa serves”.
he stated.
The Minister explained that the formation of the association would enable the government to support the group in contributing to employment generation and wealth creation, especially for women and unemployed youths.
Otunba Adebayo urged the various stakeholder groups to collaborate and come up with a single recognised National Moringa Association.
