YouthHubAfrica and members of other civil society coalition have applauded the passage of the Child Rights Act by the Kebbi State House of Assembly.
A statement by The executive Director of YouthHubAfrica Mr Rotimi Olawale says the passage of the bill by the legislative arm of government in Kebbi state is a necessary and commendable step made towards the final domestication of the international convention of the right of children which was passed into law as the Child Right Act in 2003 by the Federal Government.
He observe that the passage of the bill into law in Kebbi state represents the desires of the lawmakers to strengthen laws in Kebbi state for the benefit of children in the state, especially girls.
According to Mr Olawale, YouthHubAfrica is pleased to have worked alongside several non-state actors to advocate for the passage of the CRA into law in Kebbi state and we call on the Kebbi State Governor to, without delay, sign this bill into law.
‘’Kebbi state by this passage is poised to become the number 26 state in Nigeria to have domesticated the Child Rights Law and we are hopeful that the remaining states in Nigeria will take a cue from Kebbi and accelerate the passage of the bill into law’’ He said
