The Supreme Court has affirmed a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Professor Charles Soludo as the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.
The apex court also returned Chief Victor Oye as the National Chairman of the party.
A 5- man panel of Justices led by Justice Mary Odili dismissed the appeal filed by one Mr Jude Okeke for lacking in merit and an abuse of court process.
The apex court also awarded a sum of N1m against Jude Okeke to be paid to APGA and Victor Oye.
APGA has been plagued by an internal crisis that led to two factions producing candidates for the Anambra governorship election; Prof. Soludo from Oye’s faction and Michael Umeoji from Jude Okeke’s faction.
The Supreme Court also agreed that the election of officers of political officers was an internal affair of respective parties and cannot be challenged in court.
