Sokoto state Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has confirmed that more than 30 people died in a market in Goranyo local Government area of the state during a bandit attack.
He asked the chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahya, for more reinforcements to the northwest to curtail the incessant killings in the region.
He made the request when the Chief visited his office.
The governor explained that bandits had short-changed the socio-economy and security development of the county stressing that all hands must be on deck in addressing the challenges.
Earlier, the chief of army staff had said he was satisfied with the support and commitment of the governor towards the Nigeria Army, giving an assurance that the army was working on modalities towards ending insurgency.
While in the Sultan palace, the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar assured that they would continue to pray and support the Nigerian army in maintaining the security situation.
