The Nigeria Police Command Lagos State has arrested suspected protesters of the #EndSARS at the Lekki Tollgate area.
The protesters were at the Lekki Tollgate to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the #EndSARS protest.
Reports say many residents of the Lekki area riding in the cars were spotted waving the Nigeria flag and shouting #EndSARS Soro Soke.
Police fired a tear gas canister at the Lekki tollgate where celebrities and youths held a memorial car procession in Lagos State.
The State Police Commissioner Hakeem Odumosu had earlier warned Lagosians against protesting on the streets on Wednesday as plans are underway to arrest erring #EndSARS protesters across the state.
He said it is in the interest of security and public safety and that he wishes to warn the organisers of the protests the police would deploy all legitimate means to stop or neutralise the planned protests.
“Parents, guardians are admonished to warn their children against participating in the protests. Similarly, youths and other individuals or groups planning to take part in the protests are further warned in their own interest to shelve the plan,” Odumosu said.
In the meantime, Protests are currently being held in other parts of the country to mark the anniversary.
