The Kebbi State Government has confirmed the release of 30 students abducted from the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri.
They have been in captivity for four months before their release after bandits reportedly came on motorcycles from the neighbouring Rijau forest in Niger State and abducted staff and students.
Addressing the students at Government House Birnin Kebbi, Governor Atiku Bagudu, said efforts are still ongoing to secure the release of the remaining abductees.
He directed that the students should undergo medical screening and be given all assistance before reuniting with their families.
The 30 victims, comprised of 3 teachers, 2 males and 1 female; while the students include 2 girls and 25 boys.
Journalists were not allowed to take photographs of the students due to security reasons.
