Police begins hunt of kidnappers in Niger

Niger State Police Command has commenced an aggressive manhunt of kidnappers holding hostage of some commuters in Rafi Local Government area of the state.

State Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Kuryas stated this while addressing newsmen in Minna.

He appealed to residents to urgently assist the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the miscreants and their subsequent prosecution.

Mr. Monday Kuryas however confirmed the abduction of 13 passengers and a conductor by gunmen at Konar Barau village of Rafi local government.

The State Commissioner of Police in charge of Niger state added that the 18 passengers on board, mostly fishermen from Yawuri in Kebbi State were on their way to Yenagoa to attend a fishing festival when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Niger State Police Command maintained that is not resting on its oars towards the protection of lives and property of residents.
