Beijing Marathon has been postponed indefinitely after Sunday’s race amid rising COVID-19 cases in China.
Organizers the race was cancelled to prevent the risk of the epidemic spreading and effectively protect the majority of runners, staff and residents.
The marathon was set to return this year after it was suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19.
A new date is yet to be determined.
According to BBC, confirmed cases in mainland China presently stands at 96,840, while the death toll remains unchanged at 4,636.
