FG tackling Out-of-School Children

The Federal Government wants all the stakeholders in the education sector to stop the menace of out of School Children to actualize the alternate school for the vulnerable children.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq made the call in Abuja at a meeting of the National Steering Committee on Alternate School program.

Hajiya Farouq explained that education remain major tool to fight poverty and enhance self and national development, hence the need for members of the Committee to make education accessible to all citizens.

She said the partnership between the core MDAs was aimed at targeting the problem of out of School Children and addressing poverty among the vulnerable populationc.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster and Social Development stressed that President Muhammadu Buhari had much interest to return children, roaming the streets to classrooms.

“I feel it is appropriate to remind us all of what this programme seek to achieve and why it is of such important to even to Mr President.” Hajiya Umar Farouq said.

Minister of State for Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba expressed optimism that the outcome of the meeting would proffer solutions to issues affecting out of School Children.

The meeting had delegates from Ministries, Department and Agencies.
