The Director-General, Progressives Governors Forum, PGF, Dr Salihu Lukman, wants the All Progressives Congress, APC, to reorganise its information strategy to win the confidence of Nigerians on the true position of its governance policies.
In a statement, the APC Chieftain expresses concern that several policies have generated public debate on the Buhari-led administration, particularly the current insinuation on the alleged condition given to the Nigerian government by the US on the use of the Super Tucano Jets.
Dr Lukman argued that allowing public debate on sensitive national issues not guided by knowledge and citizens engagement could be toxic, politicised and lead to assumptions that were unhealthy to national development.
He stressed the need for the APC and its government to develop a coordinated structure to create generic and implied messages aimed at communicating the initiative of the APC administration and its capacity to address the numerous challenges in the country, especially insecurity.
Dr Lukman urged political leaders and actors to be sincere in mobilising a response to challenges, especially by the APC to boost voter confidence and electoral prospects of the party.
He, therefore, suggested enough funding of Federal Government-owned media organisations to be encouraged to create customized programmes to facilitate the interface between government officials and the citizens.
The APC Chieftain said the media programmes should be tailored towards genuine public education and avoiding propaganda to also address fundamental issues such as the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line.
