Former Minister of Agriculture laid to rest

Remains of former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Abba Sayyadi Ruma have been laid to rest at Dan-Marna graveyard in Katsina State.

The burial was preceded by a funeral prayer led by renowned Imam, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa.

Dignitaries and sympathisers across the nation including the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr. Mansur Liman, DG of SMEDAN, Dr. Dikko Radda, members of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mustafa Inuwa, Traditional title holders, members of the business community and thousands of others attended the rites.

The deceased was described by sympathisers as a diligent public servant and a patriot that had contributed to national development in different capacities.

After a successful career in civil service and politics, Ruma retired to a quiet life as a private entrepreneur and proprietor of various institutions of higher learning.

Aged 59, Abba Sayyadi Ruma died after a brief illness at a London hospital on Wednesday.

He is survived by a wife and 8 children.
