The crisis within the All Progressive Congress, APC in Oyo State took a new dimension as stakeholders and many leaders of the party boycotted the congress that produced former commissioner for Lands and Survey in the state, Mr Isaac Omodewu as the chairman.
Our Correspondent who was at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, the venue of the congress observed that party faithfuls started arriving at the venue as early as 8 am.
It was also observed that the main bowl of the stadium was under lock while the exercise which was conducted in the open field amidst heavy security did not start until about 4:30 in the evening.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Omodewu appealed to members of the party in the state to put their grievances aside and come together to move the party to greater heights stressing that the focus should be on how to win the election come 2023.
Meanwhile, some leaders of the party in the State at a news conference in Ibadan have dissociated themselves from the Congress asking for the authentic delegates list from the national body to make the exercise an acceptable one.
Senator Ayoade Adeseun who spoke on behalf of the leaders alleged that a serving senator and a former governor are responsible for the falsification of the delegates’ list in circulation.
Some of the leaders at the News Conference include the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission, Professor Adeolu Akande, the 2019 Governorship flag bearer for the state, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Sharafadeen Alli and former Commissioner for Health, Dr Azeez Adeduntan.
