Gbajabiamila charges security to find missing journalist, Tordue Salem

Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila has charged security agencies to locate the missing correspondent for Vanguard newspaper, Tordue Salem.

Mr Gbajabiamila made the call at a 2-day capacity-building workshop for the House of Representatives Committee on Media and Public Affairs.

The speaker stated that since Mr Todue Salem got missing 19 days ago, the House has been in contact with the leadership of the Press Corps to ensure his safe return.

Mr Gbajabiamila observed that while some people deliberately misunderstand the parliament out of sheer political reasons, others do it out of ignorance and the lack of interest in finding out the truth.

He explained that the committee shapes the public perception of the House and corrects misinformation in the public sphere, noting that accurate information from the committee was regularly given to the House of Representative’s press corps to help curb media speculations.

Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Benjamin Kalu gave assurance that the house will not rest until the Todue Salem is found.

The workshop was organised by the Conrad Adenauer Stiftung Foundation, in collaboration with the National Institute for legislative and Democratic studies, for members of the house of Representatives committee on media and public affairs.
