The House of Representatives Committee on Culture and Tourism says it will investigate the alleged 33% reduction in the 2021 budgetary allocation for the Culture and Tourism sector.
This is a sequel to the submission made by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed at the budget defence session of the committee.
According to the minister, the reduction in the budgetary allocation by the National Assembly adversely affected the performance of the sector and called for more funding to enable the ministry to deliver on its mandate.
Chairman of the Committee, Ihama Omorigbe while urging the federal government to tap into the vast empowerment and employment opportunities in the sector said the allegations will be investigated.
The chairman who promised that the committee will do all within its powers to boost the budgetary allocation for the sector urged the minister to also influence Federal Executive Council FEC to approve more funds for the sector.
