Acting Deputy Commandant General, Operations of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mohammed Haruna, has warned officers and men against negligence and complacency.
The Acting DCG Operations read the riot act to officers in Awka on Friday ahead of Saturday’s Governorship election in Anambra State.
Mr. Haruna urged officers and men to adhere to the robus security arrangements already in place in the state to ensure a peaceful, credible, free and fair election.
He advised officers to be polite and civil in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities of providing adequate security for the electorate, INEC officials, election materials, election observers and other individuals and bodies.
He asked the officers to secure the polling booths, collation centres, and INEC offices in the state through out the period of the election.
According to him, armed personnel are to be stationed and patrol the streets and other locations throughout the state to prevent crime and intervene to quell any violence that may occur during the election.
Mr Haruna appealed to the residents of the state to support NSCDC and other security agencies in the discharge of their duties during the election and beyond.
