The Appropriation Committee of the House of Representatives has summoned the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouk to appear before it.
The Chairman of the Committee, Mr Mukhtar Betara, who issued the summon on the consistently refusal of the minister to appear at the House of Representatives to defend the 2022 Budget of her ministry.
“Sadiya Farouq, rather than appear before the Committee, kept delegating the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Nura Alkali, to do this function” Mukhtar Betara stated.
He maintained that the Minister should defend the budget herself and not the Permanent Secretary.
Mr Betara insisted that Sadiya Farouq must appear before the committee in person to defend her Ministry’s budget or the House will be forced to take a decisive action.
