President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the Government of Sierra Leone over the deaths recorded in Friday’s tanker explosion.
The explosion occurred in the country’s capital, Freetown, followed the tanker’s collision and subsequent explosion, causing the death of 99 people,.
Meanwhile, over one hundred others were injured.
Reports say the tragic incident happened when many people rushed to the scene of the collision to scoop petrol, during which the tanker exploded and engulfed them.
A statement by the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, says President Buhari is anguished by the loss of lives and injury to others.
President Buhari sends condolences on behalf of the government and people of Nigeria to the bereaved families, and the people of Sierra Leone, while wishing the injured an early recovery.
