Police arrest butcher over lover’s death

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 48-year-old butcher, Segun Taiwo over the death of his 50-year-old woman friend, Abimbola Olusola whose corpse was found by the roadside around Aro area of Abeokuta. 

The Command’s spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement says the suspect was arrested after a police investigation linked him to the death.

He explained that the police homicide section did a thorough investigation into the death of the deceased after it was reported at Lafenwa police station had traced the death to the residence of the suspect who earlier denied knowing the deceased.

Mr Abimbola said the suspect later confessed to having been dating the deceased since last year.

The spokesman said the suspect said the deceased developed sickness midnight after having sex together and died thereafter.

He said that the suspect also confessed to taking the corpse in his car and dumping it at Aro area where it was recovered by the police.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr.Lanre Bankole who commended the professional handling of the investigation.

He directed that the suspect be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded and appealed to the public to always make their whereabouts known to their relatives.
