Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has presented the sum of over N177 billion appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly for the 2022 fiscal year.
At the presentation of the bill, the Governor said the bill, tagged “Budget of Consolidation for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development”, which surpassed 2021’s budget with about 13.5% (N21.2 billion) is aimed at contributing to the state’s next level agenda.
The governor explained that over N83 billion was earmarked for recurrent expenditure while capital investments amounted to the sum of over N91 billion, while contingency and stabilisation funds got the sum of over N3.5 billion.
About N85.88 billion was budgeted for the human and health sectors, accounting for over 48% of the total proposed budget.
On education, the governor noted that N57.18 billion (about 32%) of the total budget exceeds UNESCO’s prescriptions of 26% allocation to the education sector.
