Valentine Ozigbo
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the November 6, Anambra election, Valentine Ozigbo, has congratulated Professor Chukwuma Soludo for emerging the winner of the election.
In a statement made available to Radio Nigeria in Awka, Mr Ozigbo berated security agents for not providing a peaceful environment for campaigns to hold.
According to him, the election was fraught with a lot of shortcomings on the part of various government institutions as the security agencies failed to provide a peaceful environment for campaigns to hold.
He noted that On election day, security personnel were absent from many polling centres leading to elections not holding or held in situations that allowed for chaos and fraud.
Assessing the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on the day of the election, the PDP candidate said the commission presented untrained and poorly trained staff who could not operate the voting machines in many places and also failed woefully in providing logistical support for their staff which led to elections started very late in many places and did not hold in many others.
However, while congratulating the winner of the election, Mr Ozigbo said he called Professor Chukwuma Soludo and congratulated him on being declared the winner of the Anambra State governorship elections and wished him well while praying for his success.
