The Auxiliary Bishop of Abuja Catholic Archdiocese, Most Reverend Father Aslam Umoren wants Christian groups across all denominations to give priority to the welfare and empowerment of needy in the Society.
He made call in Abuja during 43rd Annual National Convention of Ladies of Saints Mulumba Nigeria with the theme; Women: Hope for the Future.
Reverend Father Umoren who acknowledged the gestures made by the group for needy women, explained that in line with the doctrine of Jesus Christ, every Christian must extend love and Charity to Widows and other less privileged people within their neighborhood.
The National President, Ladies of Saint Mulumba, Lady Meg Anozia appealed to government at all levels to find lasting solution to insecurity towards reducing the level of number of Widows and orphans in the country.
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, represented by her Special Assistant, Princess Jumai Idonije said women had capacity to bring needed Peace and development and called on Female gender groups to support themselves before, during and after 2023 General Election.
Highlights of the event were awards presentation, Skills acquisitions and empowerment for some selected Widows across Six geopolitical zones of the Country.
