Nigeria to boost economy through multilateral financing—Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that the Nigerian Government will continue to support efforts to broaden the economy through multilateral financing.

He gave the assurance in Durban, South Africa, when the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), called on him ahead of the opening ceremony of the 2nd Intra-African Trade Fair Conference in the South African city.

President Buhari expressed appreciation for the support the bank had given Nigerian businesses and by implication, the Nigerian economy.

President of Afreximbank, Prof Benedict Oramah explained that Nigeria, with an exposure of $5.5 billion was an important market for the bank and that it was imperative to continue to engage Nigeria at the highest level.

He also noted that Nigerian businesses got deals worth over $3.3 billion during the first edition of the event in Egypt, adding that more are expected at this year’s Fair.
