Another building collapses in Lagos

Barely two weeks after a 21-story building collapsed in Ikoyi, Another building under construction has foundered at Sunny Filled, Flour Mills, Estate, Magbon, in the Badagry area of Lagos.

Initial reports, following the disaster on Wednesday, said five people were rescued from the rubble with varying degrees of injury, while efforts were underway to rescue others.

Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Margret Adeseye, who confirmed the incident, said immediately the distress call was received, officials of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, Badagry station, rushed to the scene.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Badagry Station, had rescued five victims from the building that is under construction, while concerted efforts are ongoing to rescue remaining trapped victims,” Mrs Adeseye said.

“The victims, who are mainly construction workers, were rescued with varying degrees of injury, but in stable condition and have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment,” she explained.

According to her, “four adult males have been recovered unconscious thus far” even as the Police and members of the Community compliment the efforts of the Fire and Rescue Service.
