The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus in the House of Representatives has welcomed the visit of the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Nigeria.
Chairman of the Caucus, Kingsley Chinda in a statement described the visit as timely, coming ahead of the 2023 General election.
He expressed the hope that the visit will address certain challenges facing the country.
“Our country cannot afford the luxury of losing military officers to terrorists when it can seek strategic military and counter-insurgency assistance from the United States that has for many years built strategic and sustained military and intelligence frameworks for fighting terrorism,” Mr Chinda said.
The caucus urged the Government of the United States, through Secretary Blinken, to assist the Nigerian Government in addressing the nation’s security challenges.
