Governor Hope Uzodimma says the government will formally launch the State’s Security outfit at the end of November.
The decision was reached on Wednesday at the State Executive Council meeting in Owerri.
Briefing newsmen, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Declan Emelumba said that the Council would ensure the combination of Vigilante and Community Policing model to address insecurity.
He noted that launch was necessary to check further insecurity and make the Yuletide celebrations violence-free for Imo residents both at home and Diaspora.
On the Development Centre, the Commissioner said, when reactivated, the new centers will have all Town Union Presidents of Communities in Imo State as members.
Chief Emelumba explained that the number of Development Centres in Imo will be increased from 44 to 50.
He added that the government was committed to provide quality healthcare to the rural populace in the state.
