West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has debunked the insinuations that it deliberately fail candidates to ensure such candidates sit for the exams the following year.
The Head of WAEC’s Nigeria National Office, Mr Patrick Areghan made this known in Ibadan while leading a delegation of the council on a courtesy visit to the office of the Governor of Oyo State, during the council’s 59th National Committee meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He explained that WAEC being a leading examining body in West Africa, provided services without compromise and issues its certificates objectively to candidates based on their performance.
Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun who received the WAEC delegation on behalf of Governor Mr Seyi Makinde appreciated the council for choosing Oyo State for its National Committee Meeting.
Mrs Adeosun gave the assurance that the state government would continue to invest in the education sector to get more “out of school children” in the state back to the classroom.
