The federal government says that the National Home-Grown School Feeding Program will provide one free meal to more than 9 million pupils across the country.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, who stated this in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, during a handing over of utensils to primary schools, said the goal was to raise 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.
Representative of the Governor Yahaya Bello, Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Dr. Arike Ayoshade said the governor has expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the initiative, and cautioned the chefs to make good use of the tools provided.
The state focal person, National Social Investment program, NSIP, Mr. Abdulkareem Onekeyin said there has been an upsurge in enrollment in public schools since the program commenced in the state.
