The Twins Alive Foundation, a nongovernmental organization has concluded plans to conduct a National Essay Competition in honour of Mary Mitchell Slessor, the Scottish missionary who worked for the protection and survival of twins in the old eastern region of Nigeria.
A statement by the National Coordinator Twin Alive Foundation, Twin Idongesit said the easy competition is targeted at pupils, students and adults regardless of their gender, religion, ethnicity and race.
According to the Idongesit, the Twins Alive Foundation would sign advocacy to honour Mary Slessor with a day through the United nations assembly requesting that 2nd December be declared in the UN calendar for Mary Slessor in honour of her selfless sacrifice.
He said the twins National convention would also empower the less privileged twins and people of multiple births in the society.
