NMA seeks adequate security for medical personnel

Nigeria Medical Association, NMA Nasarawa State Chapter has called on the state government to provide adequate security for medical personnel to enhance effective service delivery.

The state Chairman of NMA, Dr. Sabo Emmanuel made the call at the Annual General Meeting of the association in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The NMA Chairman while pointing out that the security situation in Nasarawa State had improved, called on the state government to put more efforts towards ensuring the safety of doctors especially those practicing with General Hospitals across the 13 local government areas and rural communities in the state.

Dr. Sabo Emmanuel also stressed the need for a tax rebate for doctors on the payroll of the state government noting that the heavy deductions from their salaries for the tax was a major challenge to them.

Some heads of medical centres in the state, Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre Keffi, Dr. Ahmed Yahaya, and Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia, Dr. Hassan Ikrama urged the doctors to give priority to their patients above every other interest.

The highpoint of the meeting was award presentations for 23 retired doctors who distinguished themselves while serving in the state.
