24 kidnap victims rescued in Zamfara

Zamfara State Police Command has rescued 24 Kidnapped persons in Shinkafi and Tsafe local government areas.

Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana, who broke the news to reporters while parading the freed persons, said they were rescued with the help of the state government and Police Tactical Operatives deployed to different locations of the state.

CP Elkana also said 4 of the former abductees were  Students of Government Day Secondary School Birnin Yaro, Shinkafi, who were writing the WAEC Examinations, 1 Student of Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, and 8 others.

According to the police commissioner, the victims were freed unconditionally after spending 60 days in the den of their abductors.

Similarly, CP Elkana disclosed that the Police Tactical Operatives deployed along Gusau-Tsafe—Funtua Road have successfully rescued 11 passengers who were abducted by bandits while traveling at night.

He advised the public against travelling at night, adding that the night-time restriction on movement of passengers into the state was still in force.
