Lawmakers to probe national cancer control plan

The House of Representatives will look into the failure to execute the National Cancer Control Plan.

This is a follow-up to a motion moved at plenary by Mr Olusegun Odebunmi, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics, and Values.

According to the lawmaker, despite federal government policies and regulations, there has been a growth in the number of cancer cases in the country, with a high death rate, with just 4 functional cancer treatment centres out of the country’s 8 centres.

Odebunmi stressed the importance of the Federal Government putting the plan into action so that Nigerians may access cancer specialists for proper diagnosis and treatment.
