The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has performed psychological and mental evaluations on over 400 of its armed carrying squad members.

Following a two-week training at the NSCDC headquarters in the FCT, the chief of the corp’s Forensic and Behavioural Services Unit, Dr Terso Shaapera, stated that none of its troops would be allowed to use weaponry unless confirmed to be mentally and mentally sound.

Dr. Shaapera recommended trainees and workers to request help anytime they felt insecure.

DSC Samuel Precious and DSC Ngwoke Daniel, two of the participants who expressed satisfaction with the training, said that as riffle bearers, it has increased their awareness on how to handle oneself to avoid avoidable casualties.
