Chairman, Kaduna State caucus at the House of Representatives, Mr Garba Datti has raised concerns over the continuous banditry and kidnap along Abuja-Kaduna highway.
Mr Datti while briefing the press stated that the state of insecurity along the road has severely affected travel as Nigerians have either chosen not to travel or opt for means of transportation outside their means or convenience.
“In the last five (5) days, it has reached its deplorable and lamentable peak as a spate of attacks, killings, abductions, kidnappings and robberies has engulfed the Abuja-Kaduna Highway has resulted in a crisis of frightening and calamitous proportions”, he lamented.
Datti said the Abuja-Kaduna highway is the critical gateway between the North and the Southern part of Nigeria and the major link road to the North West and North East as well as to many neighbouring countries.
He added that the highway is the key outlet for the transportation of persons, goods and services across Nigeria, saying this is evident in the extraordinary traffic on it round the clock and thus imperative that the road be secured.
