Mrs Fatima Lauwali has been arrested by a Police Tactical Operatives in Zamfara State in conjunction with the Federal Investigation Bureau’s Special Tactical Squad (FIB/STS).
She is accused of supplying arms and ammunition to bandits in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Katsina, and Niger States.
Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana, who paraded the suspect in Gusau on Friday, said Fatima, 30, was arrested in the Gada Biyu area of Bungudu Local Government Area with 991 rounds of AK47 live ammunition in her possession, saying she was conveying from Dabagi village in Sokoto State to an alleged bandit’s kingpin known as Ado Alero.
According to the commissioner, she admitted to committing the offence.
CP Elkana, the Tactical Operatives, and the FBI squad from the force headquarters, led by a DSP Hussaini Gimba, also arrested one Babuga Abubakar for allegedly aiding an accused bandit ring leader, Lawali Na’eka, in Maradun LGA, and Almeriya, who operates in Bungudu LGA.
In Gusau, Babuga, lawali, and Almeriya rustle 240 cows, according to the police chief.
Other suspected were also parading attempted rape of a minor, attempted murder, robbery, as well as aiding banditry.
