The Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has called for the deployment of men of the Federal Fire Service, FFS, to some strategic location in the state to complement the effort of the state fire service.
Governor Sani Bello stated this when he received the Controller General, CG, of the Service, Dr Liman Ibrahim in Minna, the state capital.
“I know resources are a bit tight but I have seen some high volatile areas with threat and if fire comes there, the state can not handle it and it will require good equipment and I hope such areas will be looked at not only in Minna but across the country.
“In Niger State, for example, we have this riger depot where you see more than 2000 tankers of petrol in one place, if fire catches one of the tankers it will be a disaster,” the Governor said.
The Governor expressed the hope that the reform being pursued by the FFS, would be a game-changer in responding to emergencies.
Dr Liman told the Governor that since his assumption into office, men of the service have been working hard to deliver on the huge support being received from the Federal Government.
The Controller General of the FFS alongside top management who were in the state for a retreat thanked the Niger state Governor for his developmental strides.
