The Lagos State Government has ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki , pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a student of the school.
Commissioner for Education Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo announced the closure after a meeting with the School Management and Staff.
The Commissioner called for calm, saying no effort will be spared in getting to the root of the matter.
Sylvester died some days ago following injuries he sustained after he was allegedly attacked by some of his classmates who were allegedly bullying him and forcing him to join a cult group.
In a newsletter sent through email to parents and guardians, the school management said the institution will be closed for two days, following the death of one of their students, Sylvester.
Dowen College has told parents and students that they will continue the academic session online after the Lagos State Government ordered that the school be closed.
The state government said the school would remain closed pending the outcome of the investigation into the death of Sylvester, who was allegedly tortured in school by other students.
Meanwhile, Sylvester Oromoni’s father has given graphic details of how his son was tortured by the alleged bullies and the trauma he suffered before he died.
