NCCE seeks more funding for colleges of education

National Commission for Colleges of Education applied for adequate funding for teacher-education training institutions across the country as part of steps towards building the teaching profession.

The Executive Secretary, Professor Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle made the call in Akwanga, Nassarraw.

Professor Chijioke stated that the only way to enhance quality and result driven teaching profession in the country was for leaders at all levels to focus on consistent funding, provision of adequate facilities and infrastructure in all the Colleges of Education and relevant.

He added that NCCE had over the years continued to develop new innovations aimed at improving the standard of teaching profession in the country.

Provost, College of Education Akwanga, Mr JonathanThani said the college had made necessary provisions for the accreditation of 30 academic programnes, in the areas of sciences, vocational and technical education as well as language arts.

Mr. Thani while commending Governor Abdullahi Sule for providing the enabling environment to ensure a successful exercise, pointed out that the school which is one of the oldest Colleges of Education in Northern Nigeria had continued to record remarkable academic excellence.
