SWAN to converge on Anambra for 2021 sports week

Sports writers will converge on Awka the Anambra state capital for the 2021 Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Week.

Visitors from within and outside the state will participate in volleyball, lawn tennis, football tournaments, and ludo throughout the 4-day event.

Additionally, the event will feature chess, scrabble, a road walk, and a courtesy visit to prominent sports figures.

Mr Tony Oli, Chairman, Anambra State Sports Development Commission, will offer the keynote talk, while the paper presentation will be delivered by Mr Emeka Odikpo, a renowned sports broadcaster and former Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu Zonal Station..

The theme for SWAN Sports Week 2021, which begins on December 8th, is “Sports Writing in a Difficult Environment: Anambra State in Focus.”

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, Mr Tony Orji, the state Chairman of SWAN, explained that the Week was designed to educate sports journalists on the fundamentals of sports reporting.
