Tactical Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Zamfara State have neutralised a bandits hideout known as Bakin Ruwa, recovered dangerous weapons and rescued 3 Kidnapped persons.
The State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana, who addressed a press conference in Gusau, said security forces were defeating criminal gangs in Zamfara.
CP Elkana disclosed that the Police acted on intelligence reports, as a result of which the Command’s Tactical Team stormed the bandits hideout near Bakin Ruwa in Maradun Forest.
There, the operatives engaged the criminals in a shoot-out during which many were killed, and others escaped with gunshot wounds.
While combing the bush, the police recovered 8 AK47 Rifles, 1 General Purpose Machine-Gun (GPMG), One Rocket launcher and 5 Magazines, CP Elkana revealed.
The Police Commissioner also said his men repelled attacks at Musawa, Keta and Tudun Masau villages in Tsafe and Bungudu Local Government Areas, where 1 AK47 Rifle, 4 rounds of live ammunition and 69 cows were recovered after an encounter with the bandits, which left one of the felons dead.
