President Muhammadu Buhari while presiding over the National security council meeting at the council chambers, in Abuja.
The National Security Council has directed security agencies to ensure peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations across the country.
Minister of Interior, Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola, told newsmen after the Security Council meeting in Abuja, that measures had immediately been taken to avert any eventualities.
On the much-publicized rumor of a planned foreign attack in Abuja, the Minister said the city was safe and secure.
Responding to a question on the most recent terrorists’ attacks on some communities close to the Maiduguri airport, the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Usman Alkali, said the situation had been checkmated.
He urged people to ignore such rattling and go about their lawful businesses.
